Okay, Nokia may have beaten the Sony Ericsson K850i to the 5MP punch with its N95, but it’s with the 850 that the camphone evolution finally takes off. This HSDPA-fuelled cybershot is the first phone to finally feel a camera! No fiddling with buttons, no guessing. Snapping your girlfriend’s cheer practice with the SE’s K850i won’t take a lot of fumbling anymore.
I like this new gadget so much, even more than my cherished SE P1i. The casing is hefty, not plasticky like its predecessor and they snazzy new keypad isn’t the mess it was on its debut. That nav pad cooping the 2 and 5 keys makes things oh-so intuitive!
There’s more that brings on the grins. Check out that electronically-activated lense cover and an i-phone style movement detector that naturally shifts from landscape to portrait mode as you move it. You’ll enjoy perfectly framed shots whether it’s just one person or ten bouncing before your viewframe.
That blistering Ferarri caught your eye? DSLR fans will appreciate the panel letting you set ISO for different locales. This translates to sharper shots that are natural and less saturated- even for speeding sports cars ripping down the track. You can then save those gems onto a cool memory slot that takes BOTH m2 cards and generic microSD. Finally. Sony listened!
The list of goodies goes on. My K850i sports a xenon flash for those romantic moments, BestPic buttons for the idiots as well as image correction tools for the finicky. How many of the $200 to $400 standalone cameras have such features?
Wait. Before you answer, let me tell you that I haven’t even mentioned the Safari browser, mp3 player and darned easy to use SMS facility.
